3 Things to Eat Today to Help Out Your Gut
My 5th grade teacher introduced me to the K.I.S.S. method in school. Keep It Simple Stupid. Since learning this, I have discovered I can apply it to most things in my life. Parenting, marriage, workouts, food, and now our gut health.
By now, you have heard about the importance of your gut health right? It’s everywhere. You know the notion of good gut health is catching ground when Dr. Oz talks about it during the main segment of his show.
I’m on board. I’m bought in. I want the good gut bacteria. Give it all to me now. But how? There are so many ways! Maybe just too many for me to sift through right now.
So let’s apply the K.I.S.S. method to our gut shall we? Really long story short, we know that fermented food have the good stuff. The probiotics. You know your hippy dippy friend that drinks the stuff daily? It is most likely because it’s delicious and looks good in an Instagram picture, but it could also be because that that elixir is a fermented tea, therefor, it has probiotics.
How easy is that? There are so many products out there that now add the benefits of a probiotic but the convenience of delicious real food.
Here are the top three things that I have on rotation at our house to get in those probiotics.
Sauerkraut is my new jam. I had no idea what I was missing out on. Its tangy, with a bit of a crunch and adds a whole new element of flavors to sandwiches, tacos, or just a big bowl of roasted vegetables.
2. Farmhouse Culture Chips
These are new to me so I can only attest to the Sea Salt flavor but these are phenomenal. Tastes like a milky tangy tortilla chips. The first ingredient people is VEGETABLES. No additives, or fillers. My only complaint is that the bag wasn’t bigger.
A list of delicious probiotic foods without the booch would be a sin. My favorite grand is GT’s but they are making so many more now. All types of flavor profiles and the possibilities are endless. Kombucha sangria, yep thats a thing. I spike my kid’s water bottle with some kombucha pretty regularly. Try a few flavors out before you decide it’s not for you. Some brands and flavors require some getting used to.
So let’s keep things simple shall we. Instead of ignoring our gut health and everything it needs to thrive, let’s start small. Lets eat delicious food while lending a helping hand to our brain in our belly.
